Alexander DEGELSEGGER-MÁRQUEZ

Alexander DEGELSEGGER-MÁRQUEZ has been a senior researcher and head of department at the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna/Austria until February 2019. Alexander is an expert on international science and technology (S&T) policy, programme design and evaluation. A social scientist by training, he started his career at the Austrian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Technology Assessment. Regionally, Alexander has focused his work on the Southeast Asian research and innovation landscape. Since 2008, in the two phases of the SEA-EU-NET project, he was leading the project’s analysis work package. He also was the Science & Technology key expert in the EuropeAid-funded Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (READI) and consulted OECD and GIZ on their activities in the region. He was also leading projects on the analysis, evaluation and implementation of international research and innovation cooperation. This work is informed by his conceptual contributions in the field of STS and the sociology of science. He was the coordinator of the S4D4C project proposal and the start-up phase (until January 2019) and contributed chiefly to the 1st S4D4C networking meeting in Madrid. He then transitioned to the project’s Advisory Board while working for the Austrian National Public Health Institute (Gesundheit Österreich GmbH, GÖG), the institution responsible for researching and planning public healthcare in Austria.
