Alexandra Middleton is an Assistant Professor in Financial Accounting at Oulu Business School, University of Oulu. Alexandra’s areas of expertise include sustainable business development, demographics, human capital, innovations, employment and connectivity solutions in the Arctic. She has been a research and analytical contributor to the Arctic region’s ‘Business Index North’ (BIN) project that focuses on sustainable development and value creation in the Arctic and High North, with the aim of creating a knowledge-based information tool for stakeholders in the Arctic including businesses, academics, media and governments.
As an expert on the Arctic, Alexandra has engaged in science diplomacy with the UK Parliament Environmental Audit Committee by sharing knowledge to their “Changing Arctic” inquiry.
She presented her research at different fora in order to make her scientific research available to a wider set of stakeholders, e.g. The Russian International Affairs Council, Arctic Circle and the University of the Arctic Congress amongst others.
She is a S4D4C Open Doors Programme Participant.
