David Velázquez is a biologist and researcher from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid who has developed his scientific career focused on microbial ecology of Polar Regions. With almost 15 years of experience in polar research, he has conducted several expeditions to the most extreme areas of both the Arctic and Antarctic and that experience has allowed him to participate in several international and multidisciplinary teams performing research in a wide variety of topics from meteorology to virus, combining basic research, logistics, and industrial applications.

Moreover, his initiatives extend to analyses performed for contracted clients and consulting studies for different R&D agencies to facilitate innovative European companies to turn brilliant ideas and technologies into ready-to-market products.

He is a S4D4C Open Doors Programme participant.
