Strategic Forum for International Science and Technology Cooperation (SFIC)

The Strategic Forum for International S&T Cooperation (SFIC) was a dedicated configuration of ERAC (European Research Area and Innovation Committee) that facilitated the further development, implementation and monitoring of the international dimension of the European Research Area, with focus on the European Union and Member States’ research and innovation activities outside the EU and Associated Countries.
SFIC was set-up as an advisory group where representatives of the EU Commission, EU Member States (Members) and Associated Countries (Observers) were participating. The Secretariat was provided by the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU and SFIC is chaired by an EU Member State, designated for a period of 3 years.

SFIC also established a Task Force on Science Diplomacy (2019-2021) which published a note in March 2020 and in September 2020 on the topic. SD is also a topic in the working group on STI cooperation with Africa. See here the review of the activities:
