Network: Big Research Infrastructures for Diplomacy and Global Engagement through Science (BRIDGES)

Big Research Infrastructures for Diplomacy and Global Engagement through Science (BRIDGES) is an informal network of people who deal with science diplomacy and international relations in international research organisations. BRIDGES unites people who in their jobs work at the interface of science and diplomacy in research infrastructures. The aim of the network is to create a community of science diplomacy practitioners in international research organisations. Members include the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), the Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME, which was the focus of one of our case studies), European Space Agency (ESA), European XFEL GmbH, International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organisation, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS, who is also a partner organisation in S4D4C), and Square Kilometre Array Organisation (SKAO). For an updated list of the growing membership please consult the website.
