European Science Advisors Forum (ESAF)

The European Science Advisors Forum (ESAF) is an independent platform and informal network of European science-based strategic advisors. It promotes and facilitates the use of evidence-based science, shares relevant information, enhances the exchange of best practices and builds sustainable capacity and capability across a range of different national science advisory organisations and systems in Europe. Members have a formal and active position to provide science-based strategic advice to European governments and are nominated by the countries. ESAF membership is open to non-EU countries that are associated countries to the European Research Area with ESAF members deciding on the admission of non-EU member countries. By sharing information, expertise and practices, members can individually contribute feedback on advisory outputs of other ESAF member countries and also on outputs of the Scientific Advice Mechanism of the European Commission (SAM). The network also cooperates with INGSA, the International Network for Government Science Advice.
